Established in 1917 with the mission to help young women in Chicagoland financially and spiritually, Big Sisters has been able to provide scholarships for young women attending Catholic High Schools and support for Arts of Living, an organization that assists teenage moms and their newborn babies.
We accomplish our goals through the support of a dedicated membership, an active Board of Directors and volunteers. We currently host two large events annually – a Christmas luncheon and silent auction and a Spring brunch. A junior board was recently established with goals to develop outreach programs for the young women we support and build our future board of emerging leaders.
The operation of the organization comes some costs, which we work hard to defray with annual membership dues. Big Sisters is a strictly volunteer organization – no one is compensated for the management or operation support. We do, however, incur several expenses including internet charges, storage, printing, postage and costs directly associated with the events hosted by Big Sisters each year.
Your $40 membership goes a long way in helping us support of our mission of donating all the money raised through donations to young women in need.
